Blog for the Week

This week’s module on the legal structure of online businesses has been a game-changer for my Canva digital templates venture. I learned that selecting the right business entity, like an LLC, can protect my personal assets if issues arise with customers downloading my templates. The readings stressed that an LLC simplifies tax reporting while offering liability protection, which feels essential for selling digital products online. The video about business licenses made me realize I need to check local regulations for a general business license and possibly a sales tax permit, even for digital goods.

Our class discussion on intellectual property hit home. I hadn’t considered trademarking my brand name or ensuring my Canva designs are original to avoid copyright issues. This inspired me to double-check my templates for unique content. The assignment on payment integration pushed me to add a PayPal button to my website, making it easy for customers to buy my templates. Understanding these legal steps makes me more confident in growing my Canva business sustainably.
